Miners Foundry and the Nevada City Box Office Art Gallery present “A Visual Journey Through the Lens” ~ Photography by The Friendship Club Girls

About the Collection

The Nevada City Box Office at the Miners Foundry Cultural Center is pleased to host “A Visual Journey Through the Lens”, a photography exhibit by members of The Friendship Club.  Since 1995, The Friendship Club has been engaging, educating, and empowering girls at risk.  Each year almost one hundred girls receive after-school tutoring, one-on-one mentoring, cultural field trips, peer support, community service opportunities, and a full summer enrichment program.  During summer vacation, the girls take part in a mentoring program partnering with members of the community to learn new skills.  For the past six years, girls have participated in a photography workshop.  This show is a culmination of their efforts.  The collection features a wide range of subjects and styles, reflecting each photographer’s unique perspective.  All of the photographs are for sale, and the proceeds support the year-round programs of The Friendship Club. 

The Nevada City Box Office is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and during select events.  The exhibition will hang from August 29 through September 30, 2012.  Admission is free.
