San Francisco performers to be featured at dance recital
Center Stage Dance Studio presents its annual June recital at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the Don Baggett Nevada Union High School Auditorium on Ridge Road in Grass Valley.
The performance titled “Imagine…” will include a variety of dance styles featuring the choreography of the Center Stage dance faculty showcasing the talents of their young students.
The highlight of the evening is the appearance of two modern dance guest artists from ODC/DANCE San Francisco in two works by artistic directors Brenda Way and KT Nelson. At the event, Nelson will speak about the company and the choreography.
Center Stage Dance Studio is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to bring quality dance and theater instruction to children in our community as possible, regardless of their economic status. The organization’s scholarship program provides many families in Nevada County the opportunity to experience dance, theater and performance art each year.
Center Stage produces three shows annually, including the Grass Valley Nutcracker, which helps support the scholarship program.
ODC/DANCE has performed in Europe, South America, Australia, Asia, Canada and the former Soviet Union. The company is now preparing for performances in Singapore and Beijing after its Nevada County residency.
