Broadway hit ‘Next to Normal’ showing at Nevada Theatre

“Next to Normal,” a Broadway hit and the winner of three Tony Awards, will be shown from through June 24 at the Nevada Theatre in downtown Nevada City.

The dynamic score by composer Tom Kitt and lyricist/book writer Brian Yorkey features 30 original songs, including “Just Another Day,” “You Don’t Know” and “Superboy and the Invisible Girl.”

Ewing Ventures of Nevada City is one of the first companies in the nation to be granted rights to this show, according to a press release. It is a tale of one family’s struggles, their triumphs and the indomitable spirit of humanity.

It stars the talents of Bevin Bell-Hall, Jed Dixon, Kendra Scott, Erik Smith, Nathaneal Kavenik and David Lynn with stage direction by Scott Ewing and musical direction by Jerry Grant. The hard-driving rock opera will be played by a six-piece band featuring Nevada County musicians.
