The South Yuba Club is offering a free six-week weight-loss program to club members and to the public, according to owner Mike Carville. The program includes kickoff meetings, nutrition and exercise journals, progress logs, online support group with counseling and individual guidance.

Club members have access to the clubs in Nevada City and Grass Valley. Non-members are encouraged to exercise on their own.

Carville said a final kickoff meeting was held on Feb. 1 at the club in Grass Valley, but it’s not too late for others to join the program. Carville encouraged “everyone to visit the website and download the program materials and begin this program. Of course, club members have in-house support, but members of the public can follow this program and exercise on their own.” The website is www.southyubalcub.com.”

The South Yuba Club was founded in 1999 as a health club focused on addressing the needs of a wide variety of persons and individual needs. It has grown to 80 employees and two locations. One in Nevada City at 555 Searls Ave. and one in Grass Valley in the Pine Creek Shopping Center, next to Raley’s Supermarket.

The company recently opened a Functional Training Center with small group training and personal training. Carville said “In the past, personal and functional training has been expensive and beyond the means of many persons. The new concept of small group training and semi-private training reduces the expense and increased camaraderie and motivation because people workout together under the guidance of a certified personal trainer.”
