Artist's Studio in the Foothills has chairs everywhere for May show
“Local artists have truly come out of the woodwork for this show.” - Amanda Paoletti, owner and director of ASIF
The Artist's Studio in the Foothills Gallery & Visual Art Center will present ‘A Show of Chairs’ from May 7 until June 12 at 940 Idaho-Maryland Road in Grass Valley.
The gallery will be filled with chairs that line the walls, shelves, pedestals and even the ceiling, according to Amanda Paoletti, the owner and director of the studio.
“Local artists have truly come out of the woodwork for this show,” she said in a press release. “Some have invented new and exciting sculptural chairs. Others have adorned and transformed chairs with forgotten identities. All have set out with a single goal to express the inner beauty or beastliness of a chair.”
The studio kicked off the month-long show with an artists’ reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 7, that featured food, wine and live music.
ASIF's art openings have collectable handmade cups created by local artists and available for sale to guests that can be filled with complimentary wine or other beverages.
In May, the studio also will feature “New Small Works” in the Smallworks Hall. These shows have become a permanent compliment to the center's main gallery shows and loosely follow main gallery show themes.
