Nevada City Advocate - A free news & entertainment Newspaper Serving Nevada City & Greater Nevada County: Weber needs help to keep our water Weber needs help to keep our water ================================================================================ Letter to the Editor on Jul 25 07:26pm I wish to voice my support and thanks to Nancy Weber, our courageous and tireless NID board member. Nancy is locked in a fierce battle with the “Good Ol Boy” contingent of the Nevada Irrigation District board, which has been a rubber stamp of approval for NID management for decades. I have personally witnessed the dismissive and disrespectful behavior of other board members toward her and found it absolutely appalling. Nancy Weber has been a relentless advocate for the people of Nevada County and their water rights, while the majority of the board advocates for NID management. A goal of NID management is to increase their sphere of influence. They are trying to send as much of our water as fast as they can to Placer County. One example of this is the multi-million dollar DS canal project. It will replace the historic flumes with tubes and is designed to increase flow and reliability so water can fuel a new treatment plant in Placer County. Why should Nevada County tax money go to help developers create more urban sprawl in Lincoln, enabled by our water. Please support NID Board member Nancy Weber in our right to keep Nevada County water in Nevada County. R.T. Gaydos Nevada City
