The networking begins at 5:30 p.m. and the program at 6:45 p.m. The admission is $10 at the door but no one will be turned away. Food by Summer Thyme’s Bakery & Deli will be available for purchase. Imagine gathering in a hall filled with women networking, being inspired by speakers, and having fun knowing that women around the world are celebrating with them. To honor and celebrate International Women’s Day, Gather the Women of Nevada County is holding its eighth annual International Women’s Day event, “Celebrating Passion in Action”, on Monday, March 8, at the Holiday Inn Express in Grass Valley. Included in the evening’s festivities are local harpist Lisa Stine and singer/songwriter Jane Rivar, whose music brings hope and encouragement to those “Walkin’ the Journey.” Sista Monica, an award winning blues, soul and gospel singer is known as the “Lioness of the Blues” on the international festival music scene. She will be singing songs from her CD “You Can’t Keep A Good Woman Down”. “All of this is an expression of the joy and exuberance of women connecting around the world on this special day,” says organizer Angie Lux. The ”Celebrating Passion in Action” theme will unfold through the stories of local women. Kathleen McIntire, Robin Milam, Mary Elizabeth Young and others will share how their Journey to the Rain Forest of Ecuador impacted their lives and the actions they are taking as a result of it. Elisa Parker and Jesse Locks of See Jane Do will share how their Passion into Action conference has sparked women to move forward in manifesting their dreams. In small circles, every woman will be given the opportunity to express her own life’s passion. Marilyn Nyborg, co-founder of the Gather Women Global Matrix movement offers, “It’s by connecting with one another as individuals and as groups that we are able to collaborate in ways that will bring women’s wisdom and influence to the issues the world now faces.” Food and beverages by Summer Thyme’s Bakery & Deli will be available for purchase.
