On Friday, Nov. 27, Renee Wilson is going to celebrate her birthday, her marriage, her first CD and her first film at the Voodoo Queen Advance CD Release Party that starts at 8 p.m. at The Center for the Arts in Grass Valley.

Renee, who recently married Nevada County native Aaron Snegg, said she will sing songs from the CD at the performance that will also feature local singers.

The Friday night show will swing from the rich sound of Renee’s voice to a more somber tone when she shares trailers from her documentary “Crepe Covered Sidewalks.” She has been working on the film since Katrina leveled much of her old neighborhood in August 2005.

“It was actually much bigger that I thought it would be. It took a very personal toll on me that I didn’t anticipate,” said Renee, who turned 33 on Nov. 21.

You can see the entire story in the December edition of the Nevada City Advocate, which will be distributed on Wednesday, Nov. 25, in Nevada City, Grass Valley and the San Juan Ridge.

For ticket information for Renee's show, call The Center for the Arts at 530-274-8384, ext 14. Tickets are also available at the BriarPatch Co-op and Cherry Records.
