DeadAhead, which features four members of the Deadbeats, will play Grateful Dead music and original tunes by Paul Kamm on Friday, July 24, at the Miners Foundry Cultural Center in downtown Nevada City.
The Cheatin’ Buzzies will play their original music as well on that Friday night. The local band recently finished producing a CD and its drummer, Robby Kopp, was a member of the Deadbeats for about eight years..
Deadbeat band members Gary Campus, Paul Kamm, Glen Tucker, and Mark McCartney will be joined by bass player Marty Holland and Placerville’s Jonny “Mojo” Flores, a gifted guitarist.
“We are very excited to introduce Jonny to our local fans and playing the Foundry is like our “coming out party,” said Campus, the DeadAhead drummer. The Deadbeats are playing less frequently while guitarist Tom Menig tours with his daughter, he said.
Miners Foundry Executive Director Gretchen Bond said the show is part of an ongoing concert series at the historic building on Spring Street.
“We are thrilled to have DeadAhead and the Cheatin’ Buzzies as part of our Summer Concert series,” she said. “This is the first time DeadAhead has played in Nevada County with the full six-piece band.”
The Miners Foundry Summer Concert Series continues through September.
