R Scene Magazine publisher joins the Advocate team
R SCENE MAGAZINE is my local music magazine for kids from 21 to the early reading years, giving younger adults a reason, in a new way, to read about our local community and its news.
It was just a few weeks ago when I first saw R SCENE MAGAZINE, a publication for the next generation. Later, I met with publisher Dietra Hennig and she agreed to do her thing for the Nevada City Advocate. You can see her work in the November edition of the Nevada City Advocate that now can be found at more than 50 locations in Nevada City, Grass Valley and the San Juan Ridge. Dietra introduces herself below in her own unique style.
I am dietra, 19 years old, and working at NEW MOON CAFÉ, NEO, and now THE NEVADA CITY ADVOCATE.
I moved to grass valley at 12 years of age went to Forest Charter my freshman year, and sophomore through senior year at NU where I took Journalism from MRS. MCDANIELS, did a little of Sierra College writing classes, but decided that I would devote all my time to writing and the local NC/GV scene.

I believe that by doing this it will encourage younger adults to get their voice out there and even do something more productive with their time, other than drugs and alcohol. My “ZINE” inspires kids to start bands, write, and in anyway successfully progress for the better AS WILL I DO with the section in THE ADVOCATE.
